“Comparison, a great teacher once told me, is the cardinal sin of modern life. It traps us in a game that we can’t win. Once we define ourselves in terms of others, we lose the freedom to shape our own lives.” -Jim Collins

Role at DLP

At DLP, Matthew manages all aspects of the finance team responsible for DLP Realty, DLP Property Management, and DLP Builders. He produces financial reports, outlining the profitability of each of those companies, as well as assets on a monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc basis. “Answers to any questions in a business can be achieved through accurate representation of the numbers, from that line of sight, that is my inspiration as an accountant,” says Matthew. He adds his favorite part about his job is the confidence he has in the leadership team, specifically the CEO and CFO, saying he thoroughly enjoys working for and with them. In order to set his tempo for each work day, Matthew likes to be the first one to walk in, turn on the lights, and work in silence for the first few hours.

Get to Know Matthew

As a husband and father of five, Matthew says his family is the driving force behind all of his passions in life. “My life has been spent in search of what I have right now in my family.” Matthew says he pursues his goals with a fire in his belly; and says his conviction and integrity set him apart from others in his field. Matthew spends his free time playing, talking to, and reading with his children. He enjoys all things in life with his best friend, his wife. For inspiration, he turns to his father, commenting, “As I’ve grown older, it’s given me a new perspective of how aggressively he pursued the best for his family when he was doing what I am doing now. He’s my idol.”
